Juror Statement: Photography has long been a means of documenting reality and preserving memory, but it can also move beyond what is seen and convey what is felt. I am interested in images that have been crafted and constructed to reveal the artists’ inner narratives and emotions. How can a carefully planned photograph help us see a new reality? How can symbols, metaphors, gestures, colors, and settings be utilized or manipulated? Whether by staging, physical collage, or digital intervention, constructed photographs have the ability to connect disparate or illuminating ideas and reveal hidden truths. —Jennifer McClure
